Let’s make a circle,
we’ll join hands and sing.
Let’s make a circle,
come let’s form a ring.
Strofa di apertura
Good morning, dear Earth, good morning, dear Sun.
Good morning, dear rocks, and the flowers, every one.
Good morning, dear beasts, and the birds in the trees.
Good morning to you, and good morning to me.
Strofe iniziali
Summer goodbye, summer goodbye,
you may no longer stay,
Autumn is on its way.
Summer goodbye, summer goodbye.
It’s golden in the treetops
It’s golden in the sky
It’s golden, golden, golden
September passing by.
This is my trunk, I’m a tall tall tree,
in the winter snowflakes fall on me.
They fall! They fall!
This is my trunk, I’m a tall tall tree,
in the springtime the blossoms bloom on me.
They open! They open!
This is my trunk, I’m a tall tall tree,
in the summer the breezes blow through me.
I bend! I bend!
This is my trunk, I’m a tall tall tree,
in the autumn the apples drop from me.
They drop! They drop!

The leaves are green, the apples are red,
they hang so high above your head,
leave them alone till frosty weather
then they will all fall down together!
The leaves are green, the nuts are brown,
they hang so high and will not come down,
leave them alone till frosty weather
then they will all come down together!

Five golden leaves hanging from the trees
dancing golden in the sun
then along came the wind
and it blew through the town… Whoosh!
One little leaf tumbled down to the ground!
Four golden leaves hanging from the trees
dancing golden in the sun
then along came the wind
and it blew through the town… Whoosh!
And another little leaf tumbled down to the ground!

These are the brown leaves tumbling down,
and this is the tall tree, bare and brown.
This is the squirrel with eyes so bright,
hunting for nuts with all her might.
This is the hole where day by day,
nut after nut she stores away.
When winter comes with its cold and storm,
she’ll sleep curled up all snug and warm.

A farmer arose at the break of day,
He got on his horse and he galloped away.
He galloped away, he galloped away,
he got on his horse and he galloped away.
Oh, come all you farmers, oh come, said he,
our carrots and turnips for to see.
In the warm earth they have grown so big
we must bring our spades and dig and dig.
So fetch your spades and come along
To dig up the roots with your arms so strong,
to lay them out in the sun to dry,
then pile them up in the cart so high.

Jack-O’-Lantern, Jack-O’-Lantern
you are such a funny sight
sitting up upon the window,
looking out at the night
you were once an orange pumpkin
growing on a sturdy vine
now you are my Jack-O’-Lantern
and your light it does shine.

The little winds they whisper, they whisper as they pass.
They tell their tiny secrets to the leaves and the grass.
The big winds go a-buffeting and flustering about.
The little winds whisper, but the big winds SHOUT!

The sunlight fast is dwindling,
my little lamp needs kindling,
let your light shine far
into the darkest night
little lantern guide me
with your precious light.

Over the river and through the wood,
to Grandmother’s house we go;
the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
through the white and drifted snow.
Over the river and through the wood,
oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes and bites the nose,
as over the ground we go.
Over the river and through the wood,
and straight through the barnyard gate.
It seems that we go so dreadfully slow;
it is so hard to wait.
Over the river and through the wood,
now Grandma’s cap I spy.
Hurrah for fun, the pudding’s done;
hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

The Northwind doth blow, and we shall have snow,
and what will the robin do then, poor thing?
He’ll sit in the barn to keep himself warm,
and hide his head under his wing.
The Northwind doth blow and we shall have snow,
and what will the doormouse do then, poor thing?
She’ll curl in a ball in her nest oh so small,
and wait till the spring comes again.
The Northwind doth blow and we shall have snow,
and what will the swallows do then, poor things?
Oh, do not you know they have gone long ago,
to a country much warmer than ours.

The first light of Advent is the light of stones
that shines in the crystals and sea shells and bones.
The second light of Advent is the light of the plants
that reach up to the sun and in the breezes, dance.
The third light of Advent is the light of beasts,
the light of hope that we may see in the greatest and the least.
The fourth light of Advent is the light of Man,
the light that shines love to give and understand.

People, look east. The time is near
Of the crowning of the year.
Make your house fair as you are able,
Trim the hearth and set the table.
People, look east and sing today:
Love, the guest, is on the way.
Furrows, be glad. Though earth is bare,
One more seed is planted there:
Give up your strength the seed to nourish,
That in course the flower may flourish.
People, look east and sing today:
Love, the rose, is on the way.

Birds, though you long have ceased to build,
Guard the nest that must be filled.
Even the hour when wings are frozen
God for fledging time has chosen.
People, look east and sing today:
Love, the bird, is on the way.
Stars, keep the watch. When night is dim
One more light the bowl shall brim,
Shining beyond the frosty weather,
Bright as sun and moon together.
People, look east and sing today:
Love, the star, is on the way.
Angels, announce with shouts of mirth
Christ who brings new life to earth.
Set every peak and valley humming
With the word, the Lord is coming.
People, look east and sing today:
Love, the Lord, is on the way.
